Obama to meet leaders of Iraq, Israel, Egypt

NEW YORK (AP) — President Barack Obama will hold meetings in the coming days with the leaders of Iraq, Israel and Egypt.

Obama will meet Wednesday with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi while both men are in New York for the annual United Nations General Assembly. Their meeting comes as the U.S. seeks to rally an international coalition to fight militants in Iraq and Syria.

The president will also meet in New York with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, as well as Ethiopia’s prime minister and Spain’s king.

Next week, Obama will meet in Washington with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Relations between Obama and Netanyahu have been strained following Israel’s war with Hamas this year, during which the U.S. expressed its frustration with the level of civilians killed by Israeli rockets.
