Va. man sentenced in February police chase

LOVINGSTON, Va. (AP) — An Amherst man has been sentenced in a multi-county chase that damaged three police cruisers.

The News & Advance (http://bit.ly/1qY402l) reports 35-year-old Jason Todd Cash was sentenced in Nelson County Circuit Court on Tuesday to two years and seven months in prison.

Cash pleaded guilty to destruction of property, driving after being declared a habitual offender, eluding police and assault and battery on a police officer.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Anthony Martin says State Police set up a sting operation Feb. 21 after Cash failed to appear in court. After Cash spotted police, he drove off at a high rate of speed without his headlights turned on.

Martin says Cash abandoned his vehicle, took off in another vehicle in Buckingham County and was arrested at an Albermarle County home the next day.
