In the 30 days since U.S. airstrikes began targeting Islamic State militants in Iraq, American warplanes have launched an average of nearly five strikes a day and have focused their attacks on five main target groups.

A U.S. Central Command breakdown through Monday of the 148 airstrikes conducted since Aug. 8:

— 90 targeted Islamic State forces in and around the Mosul Dam complex on the Tigris River north of the city of Mosul.

— 28 near the Kurdish city of Irbil.

— 13 near the Haditha Dam complex in western Iraq.

— 13 near Sinjar in northeastern Iraq, mostly in support of humanitarian aid deliveries to displaced Yazidis.

— Four near the town of Amirli, about 105 miles north of Baghdad, in support of U.S. and Iraqi efforts to break an Islamic State siege.
