As a ballroom in the Hyatt Regency near Capitol Hill began to fill with people on election night, familiar faces from D.C.'s government made the rounds, greeting friends and constituents before inevitably landing in front of a TV to watch election results roll in.
But the local leaders also brought a certain perspective with them in addition to their election night spirit. Because of their involvement in the city's governance, they have an idea of what the election results could mean for the District.
