Election results across D.C., Virginia and Maryland

WASHINGTON — Election results are in across the Washington area. Take a look at the winners of the major contests in Virginia, D.C. and Maryland.

Virginia

U.S. Senate: Incumbent Mark Warner leads Republican Ed Gillespie but the race is too close to call.

House:

  • 7th District: Republican Dave Brat
  • 8th District: Democrat Don Beyer
  • 10th District: Republican Barbara Comstock has defeated Fairfax County Supervisor John Foust (Democrat), Bill Redpath (Libertarian), Dianne Blais (Green Party) and Brad Eikholt (Independent).
  • 11th District: Incumbent Democrat Gerry Connolly has defeated Republican Suzanne Scholte, the Green Party’s Joe Galdo, Libertarian Marc Harrold and Independent Mark Gibson.

Maryland

Governor: Republican Larry Hogan defeated Democrat Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown.

District of Columbia

Mayor: Ward 4 Councilwoman Muriel Bowser has defeated Councilman David Catania and former Councilwoman Carol Schwartz.

Attorney general: Karl Racine will be the District’s first separately elected attorney general.

Marijuana: Voters passed Initiative 71, which makes it legal for anyone 21 or older to have up to 2 ounces of marijuana for personal use.
