(AP) - Well indeed, there were no balloons at the end of President Obama's speech at the Democratic convention. Instead, organizers blew red, white and blue confetti into the air from several locations around the giant hall, using big blowers.
Video fireworks also flared on the giant video screen behind the stage as the president and his wife, daughters and other relatives waved to the convention crowd.
The rafters remained empty.
