WASHINGTON – Poet Max Eastman once said that it is the ability to take a joke, not make one, that proves you have a sense of humor. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney was able to do just that, after he realized Sunday was April Fool’s Day.
Romney’s campaign staff took the candidate to what he thought would be his first campaign stop in Wisconsin, a room filled with supporters gathered for a pancake brunch. His staff warned him not to expect a big crowd, but to his surprise, the room was completely empty.
His staff later brought him to the actual room where his supporters gathered.
“Not only do they do that, but they caught it on camera. This is known as forgive, but remember,” said Romney.
