WASHINGTON (AP) — Secretary of State John Kerry is pleading with diplomats from around the world to donate more money and aid to West African nations battling the Ebola virus.

Kerry calls it a real test of global citizenship. He spoke Friday to the diplomatic corps in Washington.

The secretary of state says no nation or group of countries can end the crisis by themselves.

He’s asking nations to send more cash, trucks, helicopters and crews, treatment centers and hospital beds, incinerators and generators. But most of all, Kerry says the world needs to send more health care workers and protective equipment to disaster sites.

He says the United Nations so far has raised less than a third of the aid it needs to fight Ebola.
