CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — When a doctor told missionary David Writebol that his wife, Nancy, had contracted the Ebola virus while they were serving in Liberia, he says they turned to God for help.
He’s being quarantined at the charity, SIM USA’s, campus outside Charlotte. His wife remains in isolation in an Atlanta hospital after she was flown to the United States for treatment last week.
David Writebol on Wednesday talked to journalists via Skype.
He says when he and his wife left Charlotte last year for the missionary work, they fully expected to enter into a world of poverty, pain and suffering.
He says they accepted the risks because they knew God would keep them safe.
At the clinic, Nancy Writebol’s duties included disinfecting staff entering or leaving the Ebola treatment area.
