Woman organizes dance flash mob prior to double mastectomy (Video)

WASHINGTON – Moments before going under for a double mastectomy, a California doctor had a unique method of gathering love and support from her friends and family – she organized a dance flash mob in her operating room.

In the YouTube video uploaded earlier this week, Dr. Deborah Cohan, can be seen in her hospital gown, hair under a cap, smiling, twerking and dancing to Beyonce’s “Get Me Bodied.”

On her Caring Bridge page, Cohan writes Nov. 1 that she will be dancing in the operating room with the surgical and anesthesia team at UCSF Medical center at Mount Zion.

Cohan, who is a mother of two and an OB/GYN at UCSF, also encouraged her friends and family to dancer “wherever you happen to be … Ideally at 7:30am but really anytime Tuesday.

“I have visions of a healing video montage.”
