VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) -- The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center is releasing four sea turtles rescued over the summer.
Officials say the aquarium's stranding team will release the turtles at 1 p.m. on Sunday near the Sandbridge Market.
The Virginian-Pilot reports (http://bit.ly/1atT9kB) that two juvenile loggerhead turtles were taken in after being hooked by fishermen in Virginia. The hooks were removed from both turtles and they were treated for anemia and lesions. They both recovered quickly and have gained weight.
Two other turtles are being transferred from the National Aquarium in Baltimore. One of the turtles had two fishing hooks removed and another is a cold-stunned turtle that had a chronic abscess removed.
