HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- More than 100 people got free dental care during an event in Hagerstown.
The Hagerstown News-Journal (bit.ly/13qgYr9) reports that the Hagerstown Smiles Dental Care office offered free dental procedures Saturday during a "Dentistry From the Heart" event.
Eight dentists offered their services and more than 70 volunteers also included hygienists and dental assistants. The volunteers performed cleanings, filled cavities and extracted teeth for patients. Many of the patients who came to the event had been putting off dental work because they did not have the money.
"Dentistry from the Heart" is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free dental care to those in need. It was founded more than a decade ago, and the organization's website lists past and upcoming events.
