MIAMI (AP) -- Microsoft says it's opening a state-of-the-art training facility in Miami.
It will be the tech giant's first such facility within the United States. Microsoft already has some 100 innovation centers in 80 countries worldwide.
The centers aim to help governments, academic institutions, community leaders and startups better use technology to innovate and develop more collaborative learning -- with the goal of spurring economic development. At the same time, the company is cultivating a new generation of Microsoft loyalists.
Microsoft is working with city and county officials to open the center next month. It will be housed at a new downtown entrepreneurial institute called Venture Hive, which already hosts some 35 companies from around the globe.
