Text messages call out bad parkers (VIDEO)

WASHINGTON – It’s probably happened to you — an encounter with a driver who can’t park. He takes up two spaces or blocks your driveway.

In San Francisco, a group of neighbors living in the crowded metropolis got together to create CurbTXT, a way to alert one another before nasty notes are written or cars are ticketed.

CurbTXT lets you can text the offending driver using his license plate.

Andrew Sotzing, one of the founders, tells a San Francisco TV station avoiding those potential tickets and flared tempers are exactly why he started CurbTXT.

The free service allows users to text the owner of a car using the license plate number. Drivers need to register with CurbTXT and display a sticker – so far 300 drivers in San Francisco are part of the network.

The text messages are anonymous. Users don’t even need a vehicle nor do they need to register to use the service.
