How to get your Red Bull refund

WASHINGTON — If you bought a Red Bull product in the last 12 years, you may be eligible for a $10 cash refund or $15 in products.

The recent class-action lawsuit settlement covers anyone who bought a Red Bull beverage between 2002 and Oct. 3, 2014. The lawsuit sprang from allegations that Red Bull’s marketing misrepresented the functionality and safety of the company’s energy drinks.

Customers can claim either $10 in cash or $15 in Red Bull products. No proof of purchase is necessary. However, the settlement is capped at $13 million.

To apply for a refund, claims must be postmarked or submitted online by March 2, 2015.

There are four ways to apply:

  1. Fill out a claim online at www.energydrinksettlement.com
  2. Email the claim to energydrinksettlement@gcginc.com
  3. Fax it to 844-533-1373
  4. Or, mail it to Class Action Settlement Administrator at Energy Drink Settlement, c/o GCG, P.O. Box 35123, Seattle, WA 98124-5123.

It may take a long while to get your reimbursement, as a final court hearing isn’t scheduled until May 1, 2015. Even after the settlement is approved, there may still be appeals.
