New rental car facility opens at Midway Airport

Wednesday - 4/10/2013, 10:20am  ET

CHICAGO (AP) -- People renting cars at Chicago's Midway International Airport now will find their vehicles housed at a new rental facility.

The Chicago Department of Aviation announced the opening of the new $55 million facility Tuesday. The building replaces several rental car facilities and lots in and around Midway.

Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Hertz, National, Thrifty and Enterprise rental car companies operate at the new building.

The facility includes a customer service center, a five-level garage for more than 1,800 vehicles, and a facility where the vehicles can be fueled and washed.

Shuttle buses will take people from the terminal to the facility. The buses will be powered by bio-diesel fuel.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel says the investment makes Midway "an even more valuable asset to the city."
