NEW YORK (AP) -- The Dow Jones industrial average is notching its ninth gain in a row, giving the index its longest winning streak in 16 years. The Dow rose five points to close at 14,455. The Dow has risen every day so far in March, adding 400 points. It beat its previous all-time high on March 5th. The S&P 500 climbed two points to 1,554. And the Nasdaq edged up nearly three points.

NEW YORK (AP) -- The price of oil is holding steady as rising U.S. supplies offset a strong report on U.S. consumer spending that pointed to growing demand for oil and gas in a strengthening economy. Benchmark oil for April delivery fell 2 cents to close $92.52 on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It was the first decline in the last five trading sessions.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Americans are shopping again. The government reports retail sales rose last month, even without the jump in gasoline prices. Consumers spent at the fastest pace in five months in February, boosting retail spending 1.1 percent compared with January. About half the jump reflected higher gas prices, but excluding gas purchases, retail sales rose 0.6 percent.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- A tax-preparation glitch is affecting about 660,000 tax returns and will delay refunds by as long as six weeks. Customers of the nation's largest tax preparer are among those affected. The IRS says the problem involved a form used to claim educational credits and occurred between Feb. 14 and Feb. 22. According to the IRS, a "limited number of software company products" were involved. The agency isn't naming any companies.

UNDATED (AP) -- BlackBerry says it's received an order for one million of its new smartphones, marking the largest ever single purchase in the company's history. The Canadian firm, formerly known as Research In Motion Ltd., is relying on the redesigned BlackBerry to fuel a comeback. BlackBerry is not disclosing who placed the order, but says it came from one of its established partners.
