WASHINGTON - Looking for a silver lining to all this stock market craziness? The uncertainty could be good for consumers.

Experts say the downturn deals of 2008 could return, although they're not expected to be quite as big as before.

If you're interested in buying a new car, you might want to wait a few weeks. Lacey Plache, an economist with Edmunds.com, says automakers might sweeten their deals before Labor Day.

Same goes for airline tickets. Tom Parsons with BestFares.com says don't buy now, just monitor prices. Your patience will likely pay off.

If it's a remodeling project you have in mind, go ahead and call some contractors. You have a good shot at getting a good price on a project you've been putting off.

If you're getting married this fall, Smartmoney.com suggests trying a little haggling now with the people you're hiring for your big event. It doesn't hurt to ask photographers, caterers and DJs if they're willing to wiggle on price.
