Where does Washington rank for working women? Pretty high

Washington ranks as the third best large city in the nation for working women, according to personal finance site NerdWallet.

In putting together its list, NerdWallet considered full-time female salaries, income equality with male counterparts, population growth and housing costs.

Washington is the top large city for median salary for working women, at $60,116. Women also earn, on average, 90.6 percent of what men with the same job are paid. NerdWallet says women in politics, research and the tourism industry enjoy the most opportunities in Washington.

Aurora, Colorado, tops the list. NerdWallet cites a higher than average population growth, low cost of living and a high level of income equality between women and men, at more than 95 percent.
