Four Washington-area towns make Money Magazine’s top-earning list

From polo clubs to gourmet grocery stores, four Washington-area towns make the list of America’s 25 top-earning towns to live.

The list, put together by Money Magazine, considered towns based on their population, median family income, median home price and the town’s local amenities.

Potomac, Md., ranks No. 4 on the list with a population of 46,387 and a median family income of $239,330. With Potomac’s rolling green hills and expansive estates, the area is dotted with prosperous Washington, D.C.-area executives who call Potomac home. The median home price is $795,000.

Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 18 on the list. With a population of 13,389, Money says this town maintains a small-town charm while providing big urban perks including gourmet grocery stores and quality schools. The median family income is $157,069 with a median home price of $510,000.

Olney, Md., ranks No. 22 on the list with a population of 34,921 and a median family income of $147,530. Olney offers great amenities that include five grocery stores and an indoor swim facility. The median home price is $430,000.

Vienna, Va., ranks No. 24 on the list, based on its excellent schools, location to Washington, D.C. and its town celebrations. With a population of 16,285, Money notes there’s nowhere left to build in Vienna, so developers often tear down and rebuild. The median family income is $144,502 with a median home price of $550,000.
