Developers delay Whole Foods zoning proposal

Developers have asked the Prince George’s County planning board to delay their zoning request, a necessary step before construction of a Whole Foods and accompanying development can begin in Riverdale Park, the Washington Examiner reports.

Attorneys for the Cafritz family, which is seeking to develop a 37-acre property along Route 1, sent a letter to the planning board late Monday requesting the board delay its decision on their zoning proposal. Developers had asked to switch the zoning of the property from residential to Riverdale Park’s mixed-use town center zone, needed to construct the grocery store, office space and retail proposed at the site, according to the Examiner.
