MEXICO CITY (AP) -- A fire ripped through Mexico City's biggest traditional marketplace on Wednesday, causing extensive damage but no initial reports of fatalities.
Television images showed smoke pouring into the dawn sky above the downtown market known as the Merced before the blaze was brought under control. The market contains hundreds of stalls selling food, clothing and other goods.
The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
