Suicide attack kills 3 NATO troops

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — There’s no word on the nationalities of the three NATO troops killed in a suicide car bombing in Afghanistan.

The attack happened today, just yards from the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, when officials say the attacker detonated his car bomb next to an international military convoy.

Nearly 20 other troops and civilians were wounded.

The blast turned several vehicles into twisted metal and it bloodied and dazed people passing by. Good Samaritans scooped the wounded up into their arms and carried them to medical workers.

The Taliban is claiming responsibility for the attack.

Today’s three military deaths bring the total number of international troops killed in Afghanistan this year to 59, and at least 42 of them were American.
