Tuesday - 11/6/2012, 2:37am  ET

NEW DELHI (AP) - Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper is meeting with Indian leaders to expand cooperation in civil nuclear energy, mining, higher education, and science and technology.

Canada is seeking to boost its presence in Asia, and two-way trade touched $5.2 billion last year, up more than 28 percent from 2010. Total Canadian investment in India was estimated about $4.3 billion, India's External Affairs Ministry said in a statement.

Harper will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh later Tuesday, when the two sides are expected to sign several economic agreements, the statement said.

The Press Trust of India news agency said the two would also discuss civil nuclear cooperation.

Harper will also meet India's president, the governing Congress party leader and the leader of the opposition.
