Kenya MP’s plan travel to ICC for president’s case

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — A Kenyan legislator says up to 150 members of parliament want to fly to The Hague to show support for Kenya’s president next week.

The International Criminal Court is holding a meeting to review crimes against humanity charges against President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Legislator Moses Kuria said he was the 94th legislator to apply for a visa at the Dutch embassy in Nairobi where dozens of the politicians and Kenyatta supporters thronged to apply for visas in Friday.

Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and radio journalist Joshua Sang, are charged with orchestrating attacks during the postelection violence in 2007-08 that killed more than 1,000 people. Kenyatta’s case has yet to start because of a lack of evidence, primarily because of witnesses the prosecutors were counting on withdrawing from the case.
