MADRID (AP) -- Officials say Spanish police have arrested a woman who was on the run following her conviction for belonging to a violent separatist group.
Maria Osorio Lopez had been sentenced to seven years in jail for belonging to the banned Galician Resistance and falsifying documents for terrorist purposes. The little-known group seeks independence for the northwestern Galicia region.
An Interior Ministry statement Sunday said she was arrested a day earlier in the northwestern city of Ponferrada.
The group first drew the attention of authorities after one of its members was arrested in possession of explosives in November 2011.
Spain has separatist groups in Galicia, eastern Catalonia, and the northeastern Basque region. The best-known is the Basque armed group ETA, which has killed more than 825 people in a four-decade independence campaign.
