ISTANBUL (AP) -- An official says a powerful gas explosion at a small art gallery in central Istanbul has injured at least four people.
Ahmet Misbah Demircan, the mayor for the district of Beyoglu, said a natural gas leak caused the blast on a narrow street close to the city's Taksim Square. He ruled out the possibility of a terror attack.
Istanbul police chief Selami Altinok said none of the injured were in life-threatening condition.
The explosion gutted the art gallery on the ground floor of the building, shattered the windows of homes and overturned a car in the street. Demircan said at least six buildings were damaged by the blast.
