AMMAN, Jordan (AP) - Jordan has arrested eight Syrian refugees suspected of involvement in riots this week at a refugee camp close to the border with Syria and is enforcing stricter security measures at the facility.

A Jordanian prosecutor said Thursday the eight refugees were taken into custody and transferred to a state security court. He spoke on condition of anonymity because of an ongoing investigation into the incident.

Monday's rioting at Zaatari camp was the worst violence since it opened in late July. About 26 policemen injured by stones thrown by the refugees.

Interior Minister Ghaleb Zoubi says new measures at Zaatari will involve separating single Syrian men from families.

The camp houses 32,000 refugees. Jordan has taken in more than 200,000 Syrians who fled the civil war at home.
