Family talks about ‘hero cat’ who saved boy from dog attack (Video)

WASHINGTON — Both a little boy who was attacked by a dog in Bakersfield Tuesday and the cat who saved him are doing well.

Home surveillance video showed the dog sneaking up 4-year-old Jeremy Triantafilo as he rode his bike. Then, without warning, the dog latches onto the boy and starts dragging him.

That’s when a cat rushes in, pouncing on the dog and chasing him away.

Jeremy needed 10 stitches after the incident.

“It’s honestly just a blur,” Erica Triantafilo told the Today show on Thursday.

“I just remember hearing him and the next thing I know, I see my cat flying out of nowhere, onto this dog, and just remember trying to get my son and get the dog away and back in its yard.”

The cat, who has become a viral sensation, is a tabby named Tara. She was rescued by the Triantalfilos six years ago, reports Today.com Her heroism was captured by security cameras and the footage was compiled by Jeremy’s dad, Roger.

Tara, the hero cat, is now set to “throw out” the ceremonial first pitch for Bakersfield’s minor league baseball team, Bakersfield Blaze, on May 20.
