The threat of flash floods loomed Tuesday as crews searched the area where a mile-long landslide destroyed a small community in Washington state.

Saturday's slide killed at least 14 people, critically injured several others and left dozens missing. It also flattened about two dozen homes.

The death toll was expected to rise as crews continued to scour through the soupy, debris-laden field about 55 miles north of Seattle. Rain was expected to fall throughout the day, complicating matters for searchers on the ground and in the air.
