School-closure announcement kicks it old-school (Video)

WASHINGTON – All right, we admit it – we may have the complete list of closings for the D.C. region at WTOP.com, but a pair of school administrators in North Carolina have out-styled us.

Via CNN, head of school Michael Ulku-Steiner and assistant head of school Lee Hark at Durham Academy, in Durham, N.C., decided on Wednesday to drop some rhyme into their announcement that classes were canceled for Thursday.

To the (approximate) tune of “Ice Ice Baby,” the pair told students and parents, “Stop/ Collaborate and listen/ Ice is back and the roads will glisten.”

True, they shouldn’t quit their day jobs, and they missed a chance to drop a mike at the end. But how many school-closing announcements are this memorable?
