Philly police seek suspect in beating of blind man

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Police have identified a suspect in an assault on a blind man on a Philadelphia street earlier this month, an attack that was captured on a surveillance camera.

Officials say the camera on a Germantown street corner captured video of the Oct. 2 aggravated assault on the 33-year-old man, as well as at least three people who witnessed it but didn’t attempt to intervene.

Police say the blind man was walking down the street just after noon when another man approached and struck him, knocking him to the ground.

Detectives say the suspect proceeded to kick and stomp the victim, injuring his face and head “as he lay helpless on the ground.”

Police say they are seeking a 29-year-old Philadelphia man and are asking the public for help finding him.
