Dog alerts parents to abuse of baby (Video)

WASHINGTON – The family has their dog to thank for alerting them to a babysitter who was abusing their baby.

About five months after Benjamin and Hope Jordan of South Carolina hired Alexis Khan to babysit, they noticed their dog Killian becoming more protective of their son, Finn, who is now 7 months old.

“We started to notice that our dog was very protective of our son when she would come in the door,” Benjamin Jordan told WCSC in Charleston, S.C.

“He was very aggressive toward her and a few times we actually had to physically restrain our dog from going toward her.”

The dog’s actions prompted the couple to become suspicious of the 22-year-old babysitter.

They put an iPhone under their sofa and let it record what was happening.

What they discovered was horrifying.

Khan cursed at Finn, then they heard the sound of slapping and the little boy crying in distress.

Police arrested Khan, and she has pleaded guilty to assault and battery, receiving a one- to three-year prison term.

She’s also been placed on a child abuse registry.
