FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) -- A nonprofit group that focuses on environmental design is opening is first permanent headquarters in Virginia.
The National Academy of Environmental Design is set to hold a grand opening ceremony Tuesday at its new office in Spotsylvania County.
The group is the first tenant of the new Center for Sustainability and Green Technologies.
The center is a collaboration between industry, government and universities for activities related to sustainability research, design, education and business practices.
Officials with the environmental design academy plan to develop a network of educators, researchers and practitioners.
The group founded in 2008 represents a national network of more than 500,000 professionals.
