More parking options coming in Fredericksburg area

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - New parking spaces are planned for commuters who use the Interstate 95 corridor.

The Virginia Department of Transportation will add 3,000 parking spaces in the Fredericksburg area.

The projects include as many as 1,000 additional parking spaces at a commuter lot at Staffordborough Boulevad near Garrisonville Road in Stafford County. Those spaces will open by late spring.

Another 1,000 are planned for a lot at Gordon Road and Route 3 in Spotsylvania County in six years.

VDOT also plans to add another 1,000 spaces at a planned Virginia Railway Express station in Spotsylvania.
