Police officer shoots robbery suspect at Va. Wal-Mart

WASHINGTON – Prince William County police say an officer shot a robbery suspect at the Wal-Mart at Potomac Mills.

Police say he entered the store with a hammer in each hand, approached the jewelry counter and started breaking the glass cases with hammers. He then fled.

An off duty officer in the store followed him and issued commands which the man ignored. Eventually the officer shot him.

The injured suspect has been taken to the hospital but the individual’s condition was not immediately available.

Police say no one else was hurt.
