WASHINGTON – The Jiffy Lube Live amphitheater — formerly known as the Nissan Pavilion — is one of the area’s top destinations for outdoor concerts.

The Prince William County, Va. venue and its 25,000-seat capacity are one of the largest in the region.

This year’s schedule is shaping up to be a big hit for fans of modern country, classic rock, and even 80’s alternative.

Many of these concerts are almost sold out, Seats closer to the stage are pricey, but lawn seats can be had for a reasonable amount of cash.

June

  • Tim McGraw kicks off the month on June 1 with some country music. Brantley Gilbert and Love and Theft open the night. Tickets start at $68.
  • June 25 brings 2013 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Heart to the venue, along with Jason Bohnam and his Led Zepplin Experience show. Lawn seats start at $35.
  • Fans of modern country won’t want to miss Brad Paisley on June 29. His mix of southern rock and country has sold millions of albums, and his concerts are highly rated among devotees. Tickets start at $33.

July

  • San Francisco pop rockers Train scored a big hit with their debut album in 1998, and have since enjoyed continued success, including the Grammy-winning song, “Drops of Jupiter.” They’re scheduled to perform on July 12. Tickets start at $40.
  • The Dave Matthews Band has been making music for over 20 years and continues to draw long-time fans and new listeners. Tickets start at $55.
  • Country singer “>Matchbox 20 and the “>Jimmy Buffet’s Aug. 17 concert. Buffet penned the songs “Margaritaville,” “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” and “Why Don’t We Get Drunk.” Tickets start at $47.
  • John Mayer will perform on Aug. 31 in support of his latest album, “Born and Raised.” The pop-blues crossover singer hasn’t toured in 3 years, and this concert is almost sold out. Lawn seats start at $61.

September

  • Rascal Flatts are scheduled to perform on Sept. 28. In the past 13 years, the band has scored over a dozen #1 singles and sold over 21 million albums. Lawn seats start at $25.
