WASHINGTON – A truck plowed into a Woodbridge, Va., home early Tuesday morning, briefly trapping one man underneath the vehicle and sending him to the hospital.

The truck — which looks equipped for construction and was driven by a man Prince William County police suspect was drinking — hit a home at Willow Lane and Pinetree Drive at about 12:10 a.m.

“We heard a really loud noise, and the whole house shook,” says Sergio Tecuapacho, who lives in the home.

A man who rents a room at the house was trapped underneath the truck while in bed. Rescuers freed him using the Jaws of Life, and a spokeswoman for the Occoquan- Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department says he was taken to an area hospital by helicopter.

Tecuapacho tells WTOP the man is expected to be OK.

A Prince William County building inspectors says the home is unsafe, and two families at the house are now staying at a hotel.

The truck’s driver is now in police custody.
