DUMFRIES, Va. - A former Dumfries police officer who now owns an ice cream shop has been arrested on charges that he sexually abused a boy more than 10 years ago.
Police say 41-year-old Joseph Ruhren of Triangle was arrested Wednesday. An investigation began after a 27-year-old Fredericksburg man reported he was sexually assaulted as a child.
The alleged assaults occurred while Ruhren was on the police force.
Ruhren opened the popular JoJo's Original Soft Serve ice cream shop after 18 years on the police force.
