MONTCLAIR, Va. (AP) - Police say a Prince William County daycare provider has been charged with child neglect after two toddlers wandered out of her Montclair house.
Prince William County Police say 23-year-old Maleighia Grace Shockey was charged with two counts of felony child neglect.
Authorities say a passerby spotted two girls, ages 1 and 3, walking together in the neighborhood on Tuesday morning and flagged down an officer. Police spoke to people in the area and were told there was a daycare business nearby.
Police say Shockey was unaware the girls had left the home on Fairway Drive. The girls traveled about 500 feet from Shockey's home, and police say they were outside for about an hour but were not harmed.
Shockey has been released on a $2,500 unsecured bond.
