Hank Silverberg,

WASHINGTON - Bones discovered in Prince William County last June have now been identified as those of a woman who disappeared six years ago.

Prince William County Police say that a DNA analysis has positively identified the bones as those of Linda Mae Archer, 58.

Archer was reported missing from her Elm Farm Road home in January 2005. Her family said she had been missing since October 2004. There was no trace for years.

In June, police received a tip about human bones found in a wooded area near the intersection of Prince William Parkway and Minnieville Road.

The skeletal remains were sent to the Virginia State Lab, where they used DNA profiles from Archer's relatives. Police say there is no evidence of foul play, but they don't know how she died.

Archer is described as a white female, 5'6", weighing 85lbs, with black hair and blue eyes.

Police are asking anyone with information relating to this case to call Detective P.J. Masterson at 703-792-7279 or Crime Solvers at 703-670-3700 or 1-866-411-TIPS. There is a $1,000 reward for information that results in an arrest.
