WASHINGTON - Napa Valley, Loire Valley -- Loudoun County?

As it turns out, Loudoun County is tops in a new list of the 10 best wine regions wine lovers have probably never heard of.

Budget Travel calls it the wine region for history buffs.

"Tasting rooms are sprinkled across historic landscapes, battle sites, and former president's plantations."

"It's a great place to grow grapes and people are always looking for that next spot," says Jordan Harris, winemaker at Tarara Winery in Leesburg.

Tarara Winery was named the "Winery to try" by Budget Travel because it has been named the "Best Winery in Loudoun County" for eight consecutive years.

"We have a really neat climate which has vintage variation which is really kind of cool," Harris says. "We have four seasons so we can really manipulate the vines with the seasons really well."

According to the Visit Loudoun there are 27-award winning wineries and tasting rooms in Loudoun.

Rounding out the list of the best wine regions you've never heard of:
