STERLING, Va. (AP) - Authorities say a Loudoun County sheriff's deputy has saved a 4-year-old girl from falling from the third-floor balcony of a Sterling apartment.
Deputy Casey Johnson says he responded to an apartment complex on Wallingford Square, where a 5-year-old boy had fallen from the balcony late Tuesday. Johnson says he found the boy on the ground and surrounded by a crowd. He says he then saw a girl clutching the balcony railing.
Johnson ran up the stairs and pounded on the apartment door until an adult family member let him in. He says he rushed to the balcony, grabbed the girl and lifted her to safety. Johnson says the girl had climbed over the railing to help the boy, who is her cousin.
The boy suffered non-life threatening injuries.
