Police arrest man wanted in carjacking, abduction near Vienna Metro

WASHINGTON — Police arrested a man wanted in connection with an armed carjacking and abduction that occurred earlier this
month at the Veinna Metro Station.

Metro Transit Police and officers from Baltimore County arrested Darian
Robinson
shortly after midnight Thursday.

On Nov. 12 at about 10:15 p.m., Robinson reportedly approached a woman sitting
in her car at the Vienna Metro Station, displayed a gun and forced himself
into the car.

The woman says she was forced to drive Robinson to several stops in Maryland
to withdraw cash and make purchases. She was released within a few hours at
the New Carrollton station.

The victim was not injured.

Robinson will face charges for abduction, abduction for the purposes of
extorting money, carjacking, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Surveillance video and a sketch of Robinson as well as information from the
public led to Robinson’s arrest, police say.

He is being held in Baltimore pending extradition to Virginia.

There was a similar crime in November and police say they believed the same
suspect could be involved in both crimes.

Fairfax County police say around 9:50 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, a woman was
carjacked from a Walgreen’s parking lot on Nutley Street near the Vienna
Metrorail Station. She was taken to banks to withdraw cash.

It is not clear if Robinson was involved in the Nov. 7 incident.
