Woman stabbed while watching fireworks in Virginia

UPDATE 3:56 a.m. 7/10/2014: The Fairfax County police have released a sketch of the suspect.

EARLIER: WASHINGTON — Fairfax County Police wants information about a stabbing that occurred in the Falls Church area on July 4.

Around 10:25 p.m., a 65-year-old woman was sitting in a shopping center parking lot, located at 7129 Leesburg Pike with a group of friends watching fireworks. An unknown man approached the woman from behind and stabbed her in the upper body.

The man fled on foot and a witness gave chase but lost sight of him. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her serious but non life- threatening injuries.

The man is described as white, possibly 18- to 20-years-old, with short blonde hair. He was wearing a white tank top and shorts.
