1 dead, 1 wounded in Fairfax County shooting

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Two teens were shot — and one died — in a home in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County Monday night.

Fairfax County police identified the teen who died as Kevin Johnson, 16, of 4435 Pembrook Village Drive.

The other teen shot is a 14-year-old boy. Police say he is in stable condition at the hospital.

A police news release says several people who knew each other were in the home in the 4300 block of Pembrook Village Drive when an 18-year-old discharged a weapon, striking the teens.

Pembrook Village Drive is in a quiet neighborhood off Route 1 in the Mount Vernon area.

Police say a gun was recovered at the scene and that there is no public safety threat.

According to neighbors, the community is typically very safe with children playing around the area.

The police investigation is ongoing.
