Fairfax County police release movie theater 911 calls

WASHINGTON — Fairfax County police have released recordings from the 911 calls made during a frightening night last weekend at a Tysons Corner movie theater.

Two explosions went off at about midnight Saturday at the AMC theater complex, causing the evacuation of 16 theaters.

In the first moments after the explosions, a woman can be heard speaking with a 911 operator, concerned that there had been gunfire. Listen to the audio on the Fairfax County police website.

No one was injured in the incident, which occurred as many were watching a late-night showing of the newest “Godzilla” movie.

Police are still trying to find who set off what were apparently chemical explosions.

Police have said there may have been more than one person involved, since the blasts appeared to have been coordinated.

The fire marshal’s office is seeking witnesses and information from anyone who may be able to help identify a suspect in this case. Anyone with information is asked to call Fairfax County police at 703-691-2131 or contact crime solvers by phone at 1-866-411-TIPS/8477.
