New funding to help fix trouble roads in Fairfax Co.

WASHINGTON – New funding in Fairfax County will be going toward new, wider bridges, and extra lanes.

Two of the projects are aimed at giving drivers a smoother alternative to sitting in traffic on Route 28 by Route 50.

Fairfax County Transportation Director Tom Biesiadny says the funding will also help get a key project done early on Telegraph Road between South Van Dorn Street and the split for South Kings Highway.

Feeling the squeeze in spots like Lee Road in Chantilly will soon be a thing of the past, as well.

The funding will widen Lee Road between Route 50 and Stonecroft Boulevard to four lanes all the way.

Biesiadny says work will also be done on Walney Road, another congested alternative to 28.
