McLEAN, Va. (AP) - The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors has approved a major expansion of Capital One's corporate headquarters in McLean.
The Washington Post reports the board unanimously approved the project on Tuesday. The decision came more than a year after Capital One submitted its application.
The plan includes 3.1 million square feet of office space, four high-rise residential buildings, a hotel, restaurants and retail at the company's site in the Tysons Corner area. It also calls for new streets, parks and playgrounds.
The project is one of the biggest the county has approved in the area since adopting a plan two years ago that aims to remake the area into a walkable, vibrant downtown.
