McLEAN, Va. - Dominion Virginia Power's response to Friday's storm is earning praise from Fairfax County's top elected official.
While politicians in Maryland and the District of Columbia have been critical of Pepco, Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova said Monday that Dominion has done "an outstanding job under challenging circumstances."
Bulova was in McLean Monday watching a county road crew clear a downed tree. Most roads in Fairfax County are the responsibility of the state, but the county is helping where it can.
Pepco had 441,000 outages in Maryland and the District at the peak of the storm compared to about 460,000 Northern Virginia customers for Dominion. By late Monday afternoon, though, Dominion had restored service to nearly 70 percent of those customers, compared to about 50 percent for Pepco.
